Welcome to Primary 6/5
In Primary 6/5 we have two sayings that we use.
‘It’s a Great Day to Learn something New!’ and ‘Be The Best You Can Be!’
We always try to work to the best of our ability and to come to school with a positive attitude to our work and towards our friends.
We are very busy in Primary 6/5 with many different topics and activities and it would be appreciated if you could support your child at this important stage of their learning journey.

Our main topics in Primary 6/5 are ‘Around the World’, ‘The Vikings’ and ‘The Rainforest’.
We investigate ways in which our world is interdependent. We look at our responsibility to each other and to the planet. We investigate features and variations of a range of places and how different groups of people lived and how our lives are influenced by events that have happened in the past.
It is extremely important that your child comes to school with all the equipment needed for that day. Every item must be named; this avoids items being lost and arguments about who owns what! Please ensure that your child brings a pencil case containing;
a bottle of water
a healthy break (packed in school bag)
School starts at 8.45am when he school bell rings. Please ensure that your child arrives promptly. School finishes at 2.40pm, Mon – Thurs and 2pm on a Friday. Your child will enter and leave the playground from the bottom gate.
We operate a Healthy Break Policy. Children should brink a healthy snack to eat and water to drink.
Milk is available to purchase on a weekly basis. Milk money should be brought in on a Thursday for the following week. Milk is £1 per week.
Children have the option of bringing a healthy packed lunch or taking school dinners. Dinner money is collected on a daily basis and is £2.60 per day. Free dinners are also available to those who qualify. Please speak to Mrs McDonald at reception, who will be more than happy to assist you with the correct paperwork.
Ensure correct school uniform is worn including black school shoes. Jewellery should not be worn in school. Please ensure all items are clearly named.
Your child will have 2-3 PE lessons each week. Named PE shoes should be brought in to school in a named PE bag and kept in the cloakroom. Please ensure that your child has a T-shirt and shorts to change into for their lessons as well as suitable footwear. You will be informed of the days in which PE takes place.
Swimming takes place in the summer term.
Spellings and Number Facts are given each night in preparation for their Friday Challenge.
Written Homework is on a Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday night. Homework should not take any longer than 40 minutes to complete. Please sign your child’s homework diary each night and make sure that it is sent in to school the next day.
We will continue to do the Daily Mile each day. Please ensure your child brings a suitable coat, footwear and a bottle of water to school.
